The virtual keynote address was organized by the United Nations Dag Hammarskj?ld Library celebrating the International Day for Universal Access to Information on 28 September 2023.

In 2019, the UN General Assembly declared 28 September to be the . Universal access to information means that everyone has the right to seek, receive and impart information. This right is an integral part of the right to freedom of expression and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development recognized the right to information as a prerequisite and key driver for accelerating its achievement. This online event will explore how libraries facilitate and advocate for equitable access to information in light of the advancement of digital technologies and artificial Intelligence. Brewster Kahle, founder and digital librarian of the , a passionate advocate for public Internet access who has spent his career intent on a singular focus: providing Universal Access to All Knowledge, will provide the keynote address.  

The Annual UN Accelerator Award for Libraries, an award which honors a UN Secretariat Library staff member, was also presented in a special ceremony.
